Prepare a shipment
Set the sender, check the recipient and enter parcel details before you get rates.
After you select a manual or imported order, use the order panel to prepare the shipment.
Choose the sender#
Under Send From, select the pick-up location that should appear as the sender on the label. The location's contact name is printed on the label, so make sure it is filled in.
Review the recipient#
Under Send To, confirm the recipient's name, street address, suburb or city, state or territory, postcode, country and phone number. Select Edit to correct anything.
Validate the address#
Select Validate to check how closely the address matches the carrier's address records. Validation is recommended but not required, and you can still request rates once the destination and parcel details are present.
Review any warnings before buying a label. An incomplete or wrong address can cause delays, extra charges or a returned parcel. Shipperfy also flags addresses that look like a PO Box or parcel locker, or a unit or flat.
Enter parcel details#
Enter length, width and height in centimetres, weight in grams and the package type: Satchel, Box, Bag or Envelope. Accurate measurements matter, because carriers can recalculate the price if the parcel is bigger or heavier than declared. If the parcel fits in a regular letter envelope, you can say so.
Use a saved package#
Select Packages to use the dimensions of a reusable custom package. Create presets under Settings > Custom Packages. See Custom packages.
Multiple parcels and flat rate#
- Send multiple parcels? Some carriers allow several packages in one shipment. This helps when an order has multiple bulky packages. Use Add parcel and drag line items between parcels.
- Use flat rate packaging? Some carriers offer flat-rate packaging. Make sure you have the correct carrier-branded satchels, boxes or mailers.
Parcel options#
Depending on the carrier, extra options include authority to leave, signature on delivery, transit cover, delivery instructions and sender references. Your own carrier accounts may also ask whether the parcel contains dangerous goods.
Before you buy, run through the first-shipment checklist.
